Student support & services

Student support teams are here to help you in your journey at UAL. From achieving your full academic potential, to looking after your health and staying on top of your finances.

We’ve highlighted some key services in your sketchbook, but you can access the full student support guide below, to find an even wider range of support available to you

Academic Support

Academic Support teams are here to help you achieve your full potential while studying at UAL. Each college has a team of tutors who offer one-to-one tutorials, workshops, group sessions and guidance that links directly to the work you are doing on your course.

You also have access to Academic Support Online where you can access UAL-wide workshops, and learning resources to support you throughout your studies. Click the button below to access academic support online.

Libraries

As a UAL student, you have access to all 6 of our College libraries. Use our libraries to:

· Browse learning resources.

· Borrow from our inspirational collections and access specialist online collections.

· Find a quiet place to work or book a space to study with your friends.

Assessment Regulation

Sometimes unexpected things happen in life which are beyond your control, which may make it harder for you to do well on your course, finish your coursework, submit your coursework on time.

If something unforeseeable happens to you, you can let us know and we’ll consider that when we mark your work. We call these situations extenuating circumstances. You can also request to take a break in studies, we call this taking ‘time out’.

English language development and intercultural communication skills

If English is an additional language for you, we offer specialist one-to-one tutorials and weekly subject specific classes and workshops to help you build your English skills and understand the many types of assignments you need to produce.

Around half of our students join us from outside the UK, so considerate and clear communication is important to create a positive and inclusive environment for all. In support of this, we offer intercultural awareness and skills development workshops as part of many courses.

Disability Services

UAL is committed to achieving inclusion and equality for disabled students. We work with students who are disabled according to the Equality Act 2010. This includes students who have:

· Dyslexia or another Specific Learning Difference

· A sensory impairment

· A physical impairment

· A long-term health or mental health condition

· Autism

· Another long-term condition which has an impact on your day-to-day life
