Responsible studentship

We would like all students to undertake enhancement to demonstrate a commitment to the student charter and to each other. This includes climate advocacy (through our practices and behaviours), consent training and actively engaging with equality, diversity, inclusivity and anti-racist behaviours.

At CCW we would like all students to have completed the consent module by the end of teaching week 5

Sexual consent

At UAL, we are committed to promoting a positive sexual consent culture and raising awareness of support both within and outside the University. No one ever deserves to experience any form of sexual violence or harassment and it is never the survivor’s fault.

Our online training module aims to start a conversation about what sexual consent means and challenge myths surrounding sexual violence. You will learn about consent, consent myths, how to tackle rape culture and where to find support.

(Please be aware that the module includes scenarios that discuss rape and sexual assault. We recommend being in a safe space when you complete the module and considering if there is any support that you might want or need.)

Climate Action Plan

As one of the world’s biggest creative institutions, UAL can, and must, play its part in achieving climate justice. Doing so demands institutional change at every level. We must bring our creative insights to bear to create a better future. Alongside members of UAL communities, we have co-developed 3 pledges:

  • We will change the way we teach and do research. We will teach students to develop sustainable practices and business models, and we will conceive and conduct research that contributes to climate justice.
  • We will change how we work with others. We will engage with people, cultures, and creative practices from around the world – sharing our creative insights with wider society, and collaborating with global climate justice movements to bring about change.
  • We will change the way we operate. We will reach net-zero by 2040, setting carbon budgets, reducing emissions, and cutting waste. We cannot influence others unless we first change ourselves.

Anti-Racism Action

We are working together to make UAL an anti-racist university. After consulting staff and students, we have developed a comprehensive anti-racism action plan. This sets clear objectives and expectations for us to tackle racial inequality at UAL. Together with staff and students we have drawn up an anti-racism action plan with 10 key objectives including: clear actions, responsibilities for delivery, timeframes, success criteria and expected outcomes. Delivering our plan will change our systems and processes – and also our culture. We will make sure we have the right resources to make effective, sustainable progress.
